NEW YORK — Bobbi Brown's limited-edition fall color collection has an edible twist. The makeup guru has designed a dark milk chocolate Beauty Bar with Vosges Haut Chocolat to complement her fall makeup line, which was inspired by shades of chocolate.

"I never thought about designing a chocolate bar," said Brown of the limited-edition, $6 candy bar, out in July at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and four freestanding Vosges stores, "but having to create the perfect chocolate bar was too good to be true." And for those afraid to indulge, Brown has a pleasant surprise — she wanted an ingredient that had some kind of benefit, so she chose matcha green tea, which helps speed up metabolism.

"If you're going to eat chocolate, you might as well get a benefit out of it," said Brown.

Brown's chocolate-inspired cosmetics collection, out in July, includes 10 new products, including a chocolate-colored eye shadow palette with seven shimmer and flat shades, a Chocolate Cherry nail polish, a chocolate lip liner, three blushes and four Lip Duos. "Coming up with new chocolate colors was a trick," said Brown. "When it came to explaining the colors I had in mind to the product girls, it was much easier to show them than to explain." And with the prototypes being edible, that was no unpleasant chore.

In addition to the Chocolate Collection, Brown is launching a Long-Wear Cream Shadow Collection with 12 different eye shadow shades, ranging in color from bone and sandy gold to black pearl and ballet pink, at $22 each.

Brown and Vosges are already in talks to create their next chocolate bar by the end of the year. Brown says she is looking for a healthy excuse to have chocolate on a regular basis.

"Since I always wanted to be in the vitamin business, I'm thinking of creating a chocolate bar that contains calcium and multipurpose vitamins," said Brown. "If you eat the right food and take good care of yourself, you're so much more beautiful, and makeup is much easier to apply. It's not just what goes on the face, but also what goes in the body."

Brown's fall collection, ranging in price from $8.50 for the Chocolate Cherry nail polish to $48 for the Chocolate Eye Palette, will be sold in about 325 department store doors, including Bloomingdale's, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Barneys.

Brown wouldn't comment on projected sales, although industry sources estimate that the fall Chocolate Collection will bring in $10 million globally at retail by the end of the season.
