Gloss.com the e-commerce beauty store jointly run by Estée Lauder, Clarins and Chanel is expected to close at the end of April.

Gloss.com was founded in 1999 by Sarah Kugelman and Deanna Kangas as an online retailer of various beauty and fragrance brands such as Calvin Klein, Philosophy, Michael Jordan, Stendhal and Cote Bastide.

In April 2000, Gloss.com was acquired by Estee Lauder Companies and three months later Chanel and Clarin's bought a share of Gloss.com. In 2001 the site relaunched selling just brands from the three owners.

Last week, Clarins Chief Executive, Christian Courtin told a conference that "We have decided to shut it because we all want to do our own sites.". Clarins relaunches its own internet shop next month.
