Sisleya Daily Line Reducer claims to restructure skin’s framework “spectacularly,” and by that they mean stimulate the production of fibroblasts, which are specialized cells responsible for creating connective tissue, including collagen. This product contains a high amount of soy protein, which in vitro research has shown can stimulate basic fibroblast growth factor. However, this research was carried out under carefully controlled conditions not related to the way soy protein is used in a cosmetic product (Source: Biotechnology Letters, June 2006, pages 869–875). Furthermore, even if we assume that the soy protein in here could signal fibroblast cells to produce more collagen, the plant extract Potentilla erecta (tormentil) has a high tannin content that can be irritating to skin, the thyme oil will produce further skin irritation, and lavender oil causes skin-cell death (Source: Cell Proliferation, June 2004, pages 221–229). This ends up being a very expensive gamble to find out if soy protein makes skin look younger while it’s being irritated. It’s not a bet I would encourage anyone to take. If you are interested in finding out if soy has benefit for your skin, Aveeno has lots of soy in some of their products, as does Neutrogena—for only a fraction of this price, and without any of the negative attributes of this appalling product.
